Graffiti Removal Project | London Borough of Wandsworth

Project Overview
The owner of a luxury residential property in Wandsworth required emergency specialist restoration following a highly distressing, targeted vandalism attack. Obscene graffiti had been heavily sprawled across the entire rear exterior of the home, completely defacing the garden living area.
The extensive damage covered multiple high-end architectural finishes, including powder-coated bifold doors, expansive glass panels, and the surrounding character brickwork. Given the sensitive and offensive nature of the targeted attack, the client required a rapid, highly discreet, and flawless multi-surface intervention to restore security and peace of mind to their home.
Location
- Area: Wandsworth, South West London
- Borough: London Borough of Wandsworth
- Property Type: Luxury Residential
- Client: Private Homeowner
- Date Completed: June 2026
The Challenge
This residential project presented severe technical and physical constraints. The vandalism spanned entirely different materials—porous masonry, modern window glass, and delicate factory-finished bifold frames. Applying standard abrasive techniques or harsh universal solvents would permanently ruin the powder coating of the frames and cause irreversible clouding or scratching to the glass.
Logistically, working in a private, enclosed rear garden meant limited drainage options. We had to ensure that no toxic wash water or chemical residues could pool on the patio, sink into the lawn, or damage the residential landscaping, requiring an entirely self-contained water-management process.
Initial Assessment
Our rapid-response residential team arrived on-site to assess the chemical makeup of the dense spray paint. We mapped out each substrate to deploy a precise, non-destructive neutralization sequence tailored to each material.
To address the drainage constraint, we configured a specialized wastewater isolation perimeter. By utilizing low-moisture thermal systems and immediate wet-vacuum containment, we ensured that every drop of water used during the cleanup was instantly captured at the source, completely protecting the home's garden and patio ecosystem.
Our Approach
We executed a highly strategic, multi-substrate extraction process. For the delicate bifold frames and glass panels, we applied non-hazardous, non-abrasive gel solvents that dissolved the spray paint resins without stripping the factory powder coating or clouding the glass.
For the surrounding brickwork, we utilized the DOFF superheated steam cleaning system. Operating at up to 150°C at very low pressure, the steam lifted the embedded pigment out of the brick pores naturally without forcing paint deeper into the masonry. To conclude the project and secure the property against future incidents, we applied an invisible, breathable anti-graffiti sacrificial coating to the vulnerable masonry surfaces.
The Removal Process
Step 1: Mobilise to the Wandsworth property and establish a completely contained, secure work zone in the rear garden
Step 2: Apply specialized, non-abrasive chemical gels to the bifold doors and glass to safely dissolve the dense paint layers
Step 3: Deploy the DOFF superheated steam system to gently flush and extract the graffiti from the porous brickwork
Step 4: Simultaneously run high-lift wet-vacuum extraction to instantly capture all wastewater and prevent garden drainage contamination
Step 5: Clean and polish all glass surfaces before applying a specialist anti-graffiti protection solution to prevent future paint adhesion
Results
The offensive graffiti was completely and safely eradicated from the entire rear aspect of the property. The premium bifold frames, glass panels, and exterior brickwork were completely returned to their original, pristine condition with absolutely zero scratching, clouding, or shadow staining.
The garden and patio area remained entirely undamaged due to our strict water containment measures, and the property's exterior is now fully safeguarded by an invisible layer of defensive anti-graffiti protection.
Before and After
Before: Obscene, bright graffiti covering the entire rear aspect of a luxury home, heavily defacing bifold doors and patio glazing
After: A fully restored, pristine residential garden area with all traces of vandalism completely erased and substrates protected

Client Outcome
The homeowner experienced immediate relief upon seeing their private space completely restored. By acting quickly and employing precise material chemistry, DUA London saved the client from a incredibly expensive and logistically stressful replacement of their high-end architectural glazing and bifold systems.
Why This Project Matters
Targeted residential vandalism requires not only technical excellence but also discretion and empathy. Treating a mix of delicate, modern building materials next to a private garden proves that a "one-size-fits-all" pressure wash is a recipe for disaster. DUA London’s ability to combine gentle DOFF steam, advanced non-abrasive chemistry, and absolute environmental containment ensures luxury homes can be completely restored without a trace.
