Graffiti Removal Project | London Borough of Tower Hamlets

Project Overview

A commercial office frontage in Shoreditch was subjected to excessive and highly visible graffiti across multiple surface types. The vandalism included obscene language and imagery, creating an immediate reputational issue for the business and an unacceptable appearance in a busy public area.

Due to the scale of the attack and the mixed materials involved, a coordinated professional response was required to fully restore the property while keeping disruption to surrounding businesses and pedestrians to a minimum.

Location

  • Area: Shoreditch, London
  • Borough: London Borough of Tower Hamlets
  • Property Type: Commercial
  • Client: Filthy Adult
  • Date Completed: September 2025

The Challenge

The graffiti was spread across glass panels, brickwork, and the main office frontage, requiring different removal techniques for each surface. The location experiences constant footfall, meaning the work needed to be carried out safely and efficiently without closing access to the premises.

The vandalism appeared to be politically motivated, with obscene messages applied by an activist opposed to the client’s public support of OnlyFans content creators. This increased the urgency of removal to prevent further attention and repeat incidents.

Initial Assessment

Our team conducted an on site inspection to identify the materials affected and the types of paint and markers used. Test patches were completed on each surface to determine the most effective removal method while avoiding surface damage or ghosting.

Particular care was taken to assess the brickwork, as aggressive cleaning methods could have caused permanent discolouration or erosion.

Our Approach

A multi surface graffiti removal strategy was implemented, using tailored methods for glass, masonry, and painted frontage areas. This ensured effective removal while preserving the original appearance of each material.

The work was phased to maintain public safety, with protective barriers and clear signage used throughout the process.

The Removal Process

Step 1: Site preparation and protection of surrounding areas

Step 2: Controlled removal of graffiti from glass surfaces

Step 3: Specialist treatment of brickwork to lift pigments without staining

Step 4: Final detailing of the office frontage and full site inspection

Results

All graffiti was fully removed from the affected surfaces, restoring the office frontage to a clean and professional condition. No surface damage or residual shadowing was left behind.

The completed work allowed the client to resume normal operations immediately, with the property once again presenting a positive and professional image to the public.

Before and After

Client Outcome

Filthy Adult was able to quickly distance itself from the vandalism and avoid prolonged exposure to offensive messaging. The prompt removal reduced the likelihood of copycat attacks and minimised disruption to staff and visitors.

Why This Project Matters

This project demonstrates the importance of using experienced graffiti removal specialists when dealing with large scale, targeted vandalism across mixed commercial surfaces. A single generic approach would not have achieved the same consistent result.
