Graffiti Removal Project | London Borough of Hackney

Project Overview
Pure Blue Lotus Oil required professional graffiti removal at their commercial premises in Hackney after the frontage was vandalised. The graffiti was positioned prominently at the front of the building, making it immediately visible to customers, visitors, and passers by.
Due to the location and height of the affected areas, the work required careful planning to ensure public safety while restoring the exterior to a standard consistent with a premium retail brand.
Location
- Area: Hackney, London
- Borough: London Borough of Hackney
- Property Type: Commercial
- Client: Pure Blue Lotus Oil
- Date Completed: January 2025
The Challenge
The graffiti was applied to the front elevation of the premises, with sections positioned above head height. This introduced additional risk, as the work needed to be carried out safely above public walkways while the surrounding area remained busy.
Standard rapid cleaning methods were unsuitable due to the surface type and the need to control overspray, debris, and access equipment in a live public environment.
Initial Assessment
An on site inspection was carried out to identify the surfaces affected and the safest access method for working at height. The assessment focused on public safety, surface compatibility, and how to complete the work without restricting foot traffic for extended periods.
Test patches were completed at lower level to confirm the most effective removal approach before progressing to elevated sections.
Our Approach
A controlled commercial graffiti removal system was selected, combined with appropriate access equipment to allow safe and precise treatment of higher level areas.
Clear exclusion zones were established beneath the work area, and the removal was completed in stages to minimise disruption while maintaining a clean and orderly site throughout.
The Removal Process
Step 1: Site setup, safety barriers, and access equipment installation
Step 2: Targeted graffiti removal from lower frontage areas
Step 3: Controlled removal of graffiti at height using specialist techniques
Step 4: Final inspection and tidy down of the frontage
Results
All graffiti was successfully removed from the front of the commercial premises, restoring a clean and professional appearance. No surface damage or staining was caused during the process.
The work was completed efficiently and safely, with full consideration given to public movement and neighbouring businesses.
Before and After
Before: Graffiti visible across the front of the premises, including elevated areas
After: Frontage fully restored with surfaces returned to their original condition

Client Outcome
Pure Blue Lotus Oil was able to maintain the presentation of its premises without prolonged disruption. The removal reduced visual impact, protected brand image, and eliminated the need for repainting or more invasive restoration work.
